KATHMANDU, Nov 6: The National Planning Commission (NPC) has started discussions on the 16th National Plan on a provincial basis. According to the plan to go to all seven provinces, the NPC has formed separate teams and sent them for discussions.
The discussions for Koshi Province have been postponed for the time being due to natural calamities in Karnali Province. The Commission's teams have been deployed in all the other remaining provinces.
The NPC is currently discussing various locations, including the Madhesh Province. Representatives from the local level and the private sector are also participating in the discussions in Janakpur of the Madhesh Province, along with the Chief Minister of the Madhesh Province government.
16th Periodic Plan to have dedicated chapter for SDGs
According to Yamlal Bhusal, the spokesperson and joint secretary of the NPC, teams have been mobilized in all the provinces under the leadership of the members of the NPC regarding the draft of the 16th plan.
According to Bhusal, a discussion program has been held today and tomorrow in Hetauda of Bagmati province, Janakpur of Madhesh province and Pokhara of Gandaki and Dhangadhi of Sudurpaschim province. For this, separate teams have been mobilized under the leadership of members of the commission including Prabhu Budhathoki (Koshi province), Jayakanta Raut (Madhesh province), Ram Kumar Phuyal (Gandaki province) and Anita Shah Dhungana (Sudurpaschim province).
Spokesperson Bhusal said that a discussion program will be held in Biratnagar in Koshi province and Butwal in Lumbini province on November 9 and November 10. According to Bhusal, a commission team led by RP Bichchha and Ramesh Chandra Paudel has been assigned for these two provinces. In Karnali Province, the team's operation has been halted due to the earthquake.
The officials of the NPC said that they will prepare the 16th five-year plan by collecting suggestions from the federal government, local government and private sectors.
