NRA engineers, technicians return to work after gov’t addressed their demands

KATHMANDU, April 29: The engineers and technicians deployed by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA)—who halted their works and resigned en masse last week with various demands—were agreed to return to their work on Monday.

KATHMANDU, April 29: The engineers and technicians deployed by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA)—who halted their works and resigned en masse last week with various demands—were agreed to return to their work on Monday.


The engineers and technicians involved in the post-earthquake reconstruction in 32 districts were agreed to resume their works after a recent Cabinet meeting agreed to provide additional perks and incentives to them.

Chief Executive Officer of the NRA, Sushil Gyewali urged the engineers and technicians to take the lead in rebuilding works in rural municipalities and municipalities keeping in mind the sensitivity of the earthquake-hit people and the importance of the reconstruction-related tasks.


A deal reached between the NRA and the engineers states that the NRA will take departmental action if the engineers fail to carry out the given duties and responsibilities in coming days.


Earlier on Thursday, 2,700 engineers at NRA had resigned en masse saying the government turned deaf ears on their demands.
