REPUBLICA (KATHMANDU): The Nepal Heritage Society has welcomed the decision of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to preserve various monuments including the neo-classical Rana era palaces in the Kathmandu Valley.
Historic ponds and resting pedestals in state of neglect
Recently the NRA had directed the authorities concerned to properly study the damage caused to the historic palaces before starting any reconstruction/demolition work.
“We appreciate the overwhelming concern toward the preservation of Lichchhavi and Malla-era building,” reads the statement issued by the NRA.
