NRA takes disaster as opportunity-CEO Gyewali

BHADGAUN, May 10: Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyewali said NRA took the disaster as an opportunity. He also informed that the NRA has laid emphasis on the reconstruction and renovation of heritage sites.

BHADGAUN, May 10: Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyewali said NRA took the disaster as an opportunity. He also informed that the NRA has laid emphasis on the reconstruction and renovation of heritage sites.


CEO Gyewali said this in a discussion with the people's representatives of Bhaktapur municipality on conservation and development of world heritage site and reconstruction of traditional heritage settlement on Thursday. He also admitted that the reconstruction of heritage in Kathmandu is getting delayed due to several reasons. He also called for all sides to join hands with NRA to expedite reconstruction works.

On the occasion, Bhaktapur municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati said the users committee should be entrusted with the responsibility for heritage reconstruction for quality assurance and ownership of people. Some of the earthquake-ravaged heritages have already been reconstructed and some others are under the rebuild process.


Mayor Prajapati also claimed that the reconstruction works would gain momentum if the responsibility for the same was given to the local governments. The state should provide adequate woods, arrange budgetary allocations and pay attention to producing a competent human resource to take ahead the reconstruction works in a speedy manner.
