NRM Director Gyawali among 37 women leaders felicitated

KATHMANDU, March 8: Civil Unification Society has awarded 37 women leaders active in different fields, including Director of Nepal Republic Media Shova Gyawali, for their contribution to society.

KATHMANDU, March 8: Civil Unification Society has awarded 37 women leaders active in different fields, including Director of Nepal Republic Media Shova Gyawali, for their contribution to society. 


The organization working to promote creativity and positivity in society by recognizing the contribution made by various individuals and organizations across the country awarded the women professionals on the occasion of the International Women's Day. The awarded personalities come from various walks of life and different parts of the country.

Those awarded amidst a special function held in the capital on Saturday include first woman justice of Nepal Sharada Shrestha, Director of Nepal Republic Media Gyawali, Co-Registrar at the Supreme Court Mamata Khanal, Executive Director of Rastriya Banijya Bank Saraswati Adhikari, Nepal Telecom Managar Rita Dangol and educationist Urmila Lama.


Addressing the function, Vice Chairperson of National Assembly Sashi Kala Dahal said the award was the recognition of their contribution to bring about gender equality and uplifting the lives of women in Nepal. “We have been working toward ending gender-based discrimination in Nepal. But various rights guaranteed by the constitution on woman are yet to come into the implementation,” said Vice Chairperson Dahal.


Also addressing the function, Nepali Congress lawmaker Anita Devkota said that women in Nepal have been fighting for their genuine rights for years. While stressing the need for education to women from school level itself, Devkota also argued that all should be able to raise voices against women violence.


Chairperson of Civil Unification Society, Sita Ram Karki said they have been organizing similar kinds of programs to recognize the contribution made by women in different sectors in Nepal. He said that the Society had been raising its voice for the cause of women's rights since decades.
