DANG, Feb 6: Nepal Student Union (NSU) decided to padlock Mahendra Multiple College, Ghorahi, on Sunday, after the campus announced the closing of students' admission without informing it.

The NSU has locked the workplace of the campus chief and the examination hall during its protest accusing the college administration for not publicizing the closing notice. Kul Raj Pokhrel, unit secretary of NSU Mahendra Multiple College, accused Bimal Subedi, chief of the college, for intentionally hiding the notice to deprive students from their right to education.

On January 26, Tribhuvan University had directed the college administration to stop admission of students from January 27. But according to the NSU, the college chief kept it a secret and shared it only with those student unions which are in touch with him. The NSU informed that they are not going to withdraw their lockout until the administration reopens internal admission.

“Many students who recently completed their high school and appeared for the entrance exams were waiting for their admissions and it's not fair to deprive them from their right to education,” Pokhrel said. He even informed that they are not willing to stop their protest until the authority takes back its decision.
