KATHMANDU, July 13: Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) Digambar Jha on Friday filed an application at the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of his writ petition after less than 12 hours of the stay order issued by the Apex Court.

On Thursday, a single bench of Justice Purusottam Bhandari had issued an interim order asking the government not to implement its decision to annul the Jha’s appointment.

The SC has already summoned the government to be present at the court on July 19 to discuss the issue.

A provision has it that the SC can cancel a writ petition by charging fine if the petitioner files an application saying that he cannot establish the case related to personal matters other than those related to the matters of public concerns.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held earlier decided to scrap all the appointments made by the then Deuba government after the Election Code of Conduct was implemented.

On July 10, Jha had moved the SC challenging the government’s decision to annul his appointment as the NTA head.
