The number of deaths due to coronavirus reached eight after a 35-year-old man from Dullu Municipality of Dailekh and a two-year-old girl from Bajura succumbed to the viral disease at 7:30 am on Saturday and at 2 am on Sunday, respectively.

According to Dr Devkota, the girl child who arrived home from India along with her parents eight days ago was admitted to the District Hospital, Bajura, after she suffered from fever, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties.

"She passed away while receiving treatment in an isolation ward at the hospital at 2 am on Sunday. Her throat swab has tested positive for coronavirus," the spokesperson said.

The swab sample of the man from Khagitdaa of Dullu Municipality-11 in Dailekh, who died Saturday morning, tested positive for coronavirus during a PCR test at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences in the evening on the same day.

The man suddenly had fainted earlier this morning after having his breakfast. Earlier on Thursday, his swab specimen was collected and sent to the academy. The young man had returned home from India along with 35 other Nepali fellowmen 10 days ago. He was a cook at a hotel in the Indian State of Gujarat.

He arrived at the Rupaidiha border point between Nepal and India on May 23 and caught a bus to Tallodhungeswar area of Dailekh on May 24. Dullu Municipality placed him at a quarantine facility set up at the Nepal Electricity Authority building.
