KATHMANDU, April 23: Ranjita Shrestha, the chairperson of Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), has said that Resham Chaudhary, convicted in the Tikapur murder case, doesn't qualify to be a member of the party.
After the Election Commission declined to recognize him as the party's chairperson, Chaudhary filed a writ in the Supreme Court (SC).

During the court proceedings, SC requested responses from the defendants.
Following the court's instructions, Shrestha clarified that due to Chaudhary's conviction in the murder case, he does not meet the party's membership criteria as per the current regulations.
Shrestha also appealed to the court to reject Chaudhary's petition.
