Officials discuss border security and cooperation in Nepal-India security meeting

JANAKPURDHAM, Feb 24: A discussion was held between officials from four districts of Nepal and their counterparts in Madhubani district, Bihar, India, addressing issues such as border security and the prevention of encroachment.


The meeting held on Friday focused on border security concerns in light of the upcoming elections in India. Chakra Pani Pandey, the chief district officer of Dhanusha, said that discussions were held regarding security measures along the border and adherence to regulations during the forthcoming Indian elections.

The key points of agreement during the meeting included enhancing border security, curbing cross-border crimes, combating narcotics and illegal alcohol smuggling, tackling human trafficking, and addressing counterfeit currency circulation. Pandey said, "It is anticipated that this discussion will foster greater cooperation in mutual coordination, peace, security, and crime prevention."


Representatives from Nepal's border districts of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, and Mahottari, including Chief District Officers, Police Chiefs, Armed Police Chiefs, and National Investigation Office Chiefs, participated in the meeting. Leading the discussions were CDO Pandey from Dhanusha representing Nepal and District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Burma from Madhubani district representing India.
