KATHMANDU, Sept 28: The chairman duo of the ruling Nepal Communist Party KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal are currently holding a meeting at the former’s official residence in Baluwatar to finalize the names of the leaders to be inducted as the ministers in the Oli-led cabinet.

According to Dahal’s Press Advisor Bishnu Sapkota, the meeting that began at 11:30 am is currently underway. “The discussion is centered on the proposed cabinet reshuffle,” Sapkota told Republica.

The two NCP chairmen, however, are yet to finalize the names to be inducted as the ministers in the current government.

Oli and Dahal also met on Sunday to discuss the cabinet reshuffle. Sources said they are, however, yet to reach consensus on the new faces to be inducted in the cabinet.

The chairman duo of the NCP have been holding a series of meetings for the same since last Thursday. Oli, who is also the prime minister, told his cabinet colleagues last week that his cabinet would be reshuffled soon.

The cabinet reshuffle plan comes at a time when both the ruling party and the government are under fire from multiple quarters for their lackluster performance in COVID-19 pandemic response. The Oli-led government is also accused of failing to deliver on the promises the NCP made during the general election held in 2017.
