MANANG, Feb 25: One person died on Saturday when a house collapsed in Manang.


Chief District Officer Subash Kumar Lamichhane said that the deceased is 37-year-old Bir Bahadur Ghale of Gorkha Dharche Rural Municipality-6.


Ghale died after being covered with mud while repairing the house of Kancha Gurung of Manang Village, Neshyang Rural Municipality-4

Chief District Officer Lamichhane said that seven of the nine workers who were repairing the house were rescued safely, while one suffered minor injuries.


The house where the kitchen of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project is located had a problem of leakage after the snowfall.


Lamichhane said, “After the heavy snowfall a few days ago, there was a problem of leakage in the house. The house was destroyed during the renovation. It has been reported that Ghale died after being crushed by the mud.”


The workers buried in the mud were rescued with the help of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and other security personnel.


Dhak Bahadur Bhujel, head of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Manang said that the body of the deceased has been sent to Chame for a post-mortem.


"First aid was given to one person who suffered a minor head injury when they were covered by mud, while others were rescued safely," he said.
