One killed, one injured in landslide

SURKHET, JULY 5: A woman died after being buried in a landslide near Lama Bagar in Panchpuri Municipality-7 of West Surkhet. Another woman was injured in the incident. She was walking on the road when the landslide hit her at around 6:30 AM on Tuesday.

SURKHET, JULY 5: A woman died after being buried in a landslide near Lama Bagar in Panchpuri Municipality-7 of West Surkhet. Another woman was injured in the incident. She was walking on the road when the landslide hit her at around 6:30 AM on Tuesday.


The deceased has been identified as Amrita Jaisi of Turmakhand Rural Municipality-6 of Raniban, Achham. Rati Kami of the same place was injured. Dambar Bahadur BC, chairman of Turmakhand Rural Municipality, who reached the spot, said that the landslide buried both the women while they were walking on the road.

According to the B.C, both the women were on their way to visit relatives in Lamkichuha Municipality, Kailali. “The landslide occurred due to continuous rains. Both of them were staying at Jangalaghat on the border of Achham on Monday night," he said.


Police have not reached the spot yet. The Karnali provincial government is preparing to send a helicopter to rescue the injured. Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of the province, Him Bahadur Shahi said that a helicopter was being sent to rescue the injured. "We have just received reports of the landslides," he said, "We are preparing to send a helicopter for the rescue."
