One more dies of COVID-19 in Taplejung, district’s death tally reaches 8

KATHMANDU, May 23: As many as eight people have died in Taplejung since the spread of the second variant of COVID-19 in the district. The casetally reached eight after a person died of the virus on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, May 23: As many as eight people have died in Taplejung since the spread of the second variant of COVID-19 in the district. The casetally reached eight after a person died of the virus on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old female from Fungling Rural Municipality-4 of Balmandir Tole. According to the relatives, she had tested positive for COVID-19 through an antigen test at Taplejung District Hospital on Saturday.  


The woman died while being taken to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar for further treatment. According to Chief District Officer Umesh Pandey, the relatives of the deceased had contacted him to perform the cremation rituals by following the safety protocols. He suggested to the family to wear safety kits and PPE while cremating the body.

Earlier, a 53-year-old male from Fungling-6, a 45-year-old female from the same village, a 85-year-old female and a 60-year-old male from Fungling-4, a 51-year-old male from Faktanglung-3, a 22-year-old female from Maiwakhola Rural Municipality, and a 93-year-old female from Fungling died of COVID-19. 


However, the deaths of a 31-year-old male from Fungling-4 and a 22-year-old male from Fungling-7 have arisen suspicions after their COVID-19 infections were not confirmed.
