Online registration of VAW incidents to begin from Dec 11

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: All types of incidents of Violence Against Women (VAW) can be registered online from December 11, 2017.  Secretary at the National Women Commission, Tulsiram Sedhain shared this in the National Women Conference organized in the capital today by the Asmita Women's Publication Group, Action Aid International, Nepal and the National Women Rights Forum.

Sedhain said the National Women Commission was taking up the step aimed at the prompt registration of any incident of violence at any place and providing justice to the victims. He said the commission's this initiative is in the context of the commemoration of the 16 days Campaign of  Violence Against Women which is marked every year from November 25 to December 10. 


Senior researcher Dr. Meena Acharya said that the male members should help reduce the work burden for women in the household. 


The two-day conference, focusing on the identification of the service-oriented unpaid work of women and ensuring their economic empowerment, is participated by 250 women household workers from 35 districts across the country, Executive Director of the Asmita Women Publication House, Sarita Shrestha, said. 


Director of the Department of Labour, Barun Kumar Jha said all the women movements would be fruitful if they are based on social and cultural values. 


Sita Sunuwar, a homemaker participant from Dakshinkali Municipality, said that the male members of the family should also help out the females in the household works so that they too can work outside.
