KATHMANDU, Sept 17: In the examinations conducted for 29 positions of District Judge, only one candidate has passed the written examination.
On June 9, a total of 211 individuals participated in the written examination for the 29 District Judge positions advertised by the Judicial Service Commission. Out of all the candidates, only Paras Mani Pokharel passed. His interview is scheduled to take place on Monday.

Among the 29 District Judge positions advertised, 15 were designated for internal applicants, seven for open competition, two for women, two for indigenous candidates, two for Madhesi candidates, and one for a Dalit candidate.
Pokharel competed for 15 internal positions and seven open competition positions. He belongs to the Judicial Service Administration Group and is currently employed in the Supreme Court. Pokharel attained the position of section officer in the Judicial Service in 2070 BS and passed the Under Secretary of Judicial Service Examination in 2076 BS.
Unfortunately, none of the other candidates who had applied for other positions were able to pass the examination. The Public Service Commission conducted the examination as per the advertisement issued by the Judicial Service Commission.
In the District Judge examination, candidates are required to complete four papers, including three on theoretical subjects and one assessing their order and judgment writing skills. To pass, candidates must score a minimum of 50 marks out of 100. Approximately 20 of the participants in this examination were legal professionals, while the others were employees of the judicial service.
