Our charge d'affaires has not met any political leaders: Chinese Embassy

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Chinese Embassy for Nepal has clarified that Wang Xin, the charge d'affaires, has not met any political leaders of Nepal. Xin said that the news that he had met with UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Upendra Yadav was published and said that that news is not true.

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Chinese Embassy for Nepal has clarified that Wang Xin, the charge d'affaires, has not met any political leaders of Nepal. Xin said that the news that he had met with UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Upendra Yadav was published and said that that news is not true.


The second secretary of the embassy, Secretary Zhang Xi, issued a statement and said that the claim that the charge of the affairs of the embassy met with the top leaders of Nepal is false.

In the past, China's role in Nepal's internal affairs was negligible, and the outgoing ambassador Hou Yanqi has been accused of breaking that tradition and playing an active role.


Especially when the conflict within the then leftist alliance, which was formed by unity among the left components, reached its peak, Ambassador Yanqi played a role in preserving the unity by meeting with the top leaders one by one.


The Chinese embassy has clarified that there was no meeting between the leaders of leftist parties.
