Over 1,200 cases of dengue detected in Valley

KATHMANDU, August 30: A total of 1,258 cases of dengue have been detected in the Kathmandu Valley in recent times.

KATHMANDU, August 30: A total of 1,258 cases of dengue have been detected in the Kathmandu Valley in recent times.


According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), 856 dengue patients were detected in Lalitpur, the largest of all of the Valley districts. Similarly, 332 cases of dengue have been found in Kathmandu district while 70 cases have been recorded in Bhaktapur.

With an increasing number of cases of mosquito-spread disease, the Kathmandu Valley-based hospitals are overwhelmed with dengue patients. Bir Hospital alone is reported to be receiving around 150 patients on a daily basis. Of them, around 25 percent get admitted to the hospital daily.


Similarly, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku has been receiving around 50 dengue patients daily over the past few days. Nepal APF Hospital has admitted 32 dengue patients while on an average, 50-60 individuals suspected of the disease come for treatment daily.
