According to traders, they have been unable to transport goods worth around Rs 5 billion via Rasuwagadhi-Kerung and Tatopani-Khasa trade routes since last month. The Chinese authorities, showing the pretext of the spread of coronavirus in both the countries, have suspended imports and exports via the border points.

The imported goods include a large amount of festival related items and winter-targeted clothes.

Narad Gautam, chief of Tatopani Customs Office, said many traders have rerouted their cargo trucks to import items related to the Dashain and Tihar festivals. According to him, many containers carrying outfits targeted for the upcoming winter, however, still remained stuck on the Chinese side of these border points.
