Over 7 million passengers travel to and from TIA in a 10-month span

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu witnessed a significant influx of travellers, with a total of 7,023,907 passengers moving through its terminals over a 10-month period in 2023.

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu witnessed a significant influx of travellers, with a total of 7,023,907 passengers moving through its terminals over a 10-month period in 2023.


According to a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) covering data from January to October 2023, the international terminal recorded 3,679,605 passengers, while the domestic terminal saw 3,344,302 passengers.

Among the key statistics, 1,958,687 passengers embarked on international flights from Kathmandu, while 1,720,918 arrivals occurred from abroad. Additionally, 1,668,027 passengers flew into Kathmandu from outer districts, while 1,676,275 individuals left the capital for other regions.


The airport also experienced a substantial number of flight movements during this timeframe. A total of 25,674 international flights took place, comprising 12,837 arrivals and an equal number of departures. In the domestic sector, there were 78,663 flights and landings, with 39,344 flights and 39,319 landings contributing to this overall figure.
