Pak Embassy celebrates 75th Independence Day amidst special functions

KATHMANDU, August 15: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan amidst a special function on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, August 15: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan amidst a special function on Sunday. 


Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Syed Haidar hoisted the embassy flag at the Embassy premise on Sunday morning. The celebration was joined by Embassy’s officers  and officials and the Pakistani community in Nepal. Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.


Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony Ambassador Syed Haider Shah recalled the history of Pakistan movement under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Referring to the Jammu Kashmir dispute, the Ambassador said that resolution of this long outstanding dispute in accordance with the wishes of the people and the UN resolutions was indispensable for lasting peace, stability and prosperity of the region.

In the evening, the Embassy in collaboration with Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association (NPFCA) organised a reception to celebrate 75th Independence Day of Pakistan at Marriott Hotel, Kathmandu.


Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun was the Chief Guest at the event while Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Sher Bahadur Kunwar attended the event as Special Guest. Members of civil society, diplomats and the Pakistani community in Nepal attended the event.


Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Mr. Sher Bahadur Kunwar, recalled the close and cordial ties between Nepal and Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan’s support to Nepal in its development endeavours.


President of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association Himalaya SJB Rana said that the association had been active for the last 61 years to further promote Nepal-Pakistan relationship and to take it to new heights.


Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Syed Haider Shah, appreciated the efforts of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association for the promotion of friendly relations between the two countries. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and development and underlined the need for resolution of all outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means for lasting peace and prosperity of people of South Asia.
