BUTWAL, Aug 30: The identity of those who died when a landslide fell on a Scorpio in Jorte of Palpa has been ascertained. Three persons were killed on the spot when a Scorpio of Ruru Resunga Transport Pvt Ltd with registration number Lu 1 Ja 4600 was hit by a landslide in Ribdikot Rural Municipality-2 Jorte on the Tansen-Tamghas subsidiary highway.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Thapa said that the deceased are identified as Mankala Chundara, 50 of Resunga Municipality-7 in Gulmi, Yam Bahadur Godar, 32, assistant constable of Tansen Palpa working in District Police Office Gulmi of Tansen Palpa and Binod Timilsina, 25, of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
A total of eight people were injured in the accident.

The rear end of the Scorpio has been damaged by a dry landslide with rocks falling from above. Police said that the dead bodies were severely mutilated.
A stone fell on a jeep coming from Tamghas towards Butwal at around 8:30AM on Wednesday morning at Jorte in Palpa.
Information officer Thapa said that eight people injured in the accident are being treated at Lumbini Medical College, while the driver is safe.
Palpa Police have reported that one of the injured individuals is in critical condition, while the condition of the remaining seven is stable.
To improve safety, the Division Road Office in Palpa has instituted road closures from 10 PM to 4 AM for road widening purposes.
