Panel formed to probe Taplejung chopper crash begins its work

KATHMANDU, March 6: A high-level government panel constituted to investigate the chopper crash in Taplejung last week is starting its work today.

TAPLEJUNG, March 6: A high-level government panel constituted to investigate the chopper crash in Taplejung district last week is starting its work today.


As part of its investigation, the four-member panel headed by Former Tourism Secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam is holding a discussion with stakeholders including politicians, authorities and local residents in Taplejung district today.

Chief District Officer Anuj Bhandari told Republica Online that an all-party meeting has been scheduled for today at the request of the probe panel. "The probe panel has not shared us its detail action plan," CDO Bhandari said.


Brigadier General of Nepal Army (Retired) Dipak Prasad Bastola, Colonel Pramod Lama (Retired) and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism Buddhisagar Lamichhane are members of the probe panel.


A chopper of Air Dynasty had crashed near Pathibhara of Taplejung district killing seven people including Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari, on February 27.
