Finance committee discusses Indian govt ban on bank notes with FinMin, NRB governor

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: The Finance Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Thursday held a discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Chiranjibi Nepal on the latest issues that cropped up after the Indian government banned INR 500 and 1000 bank notes.

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: The Finance Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Thursday held a discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Chiranjibi Nepal on the latest issues that cropped up after the Indian government banned INR 500 and 1000 bank notes.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krisha Bahadur Mahara, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Chiranjibi Nepal, Former  Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Parliamentary Finance Committee Chairman Prakash Jwala, among other  officials, were present  in the meeting. 


On November 9, the NRB issued directive to the concerned banks, financial institutions and money transfer companies not to use Indian Currency (IC) Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes  after the Indian government demonitized these notes.
