Parliamentary Special Committee to start writing report from today

KATHMANDU, July 27: The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the case against former finance minister Janardan Sharma has started writing the report from today.

KATHMANDU, July 27: The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the case against former finance minister Janardan Sharma has started writing the report from today.


The probe committee has started writing the report based on the statements given by Sharma, inquiries with finance ministry employees and the available CCTV footage.

During the investigation, the committee grilled the then finance minister Sharma, secretary of the finance ministry Madhu Kumar Marasini, other employees of the ministry and the journalists who had written the news about the involvement of unauthorized persons in the making of the budget for the current fiscal year.


The then finance minister Janardan Sharma has been accused of manipulating the tax rates by calling unauthorized persons to the ministry on the night of May 28, a day before presenting the budget for the financial year 2022/23 in the House of Representatives.


The extended deadline of the committee for investigation expires on Thursday.
