Officials at Pashupatinath Area Development Trust (PADT) said the temple has been reopened following health safety protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and Population. A significant number of devotees were seen in the Pashupatinath temple premises earlier this morning.

According to Treasurer of the PADT Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, over 100 devotees visited the temple on Wednesday morning. "Those visiting the temple have been directed to maintain social distance, have their body temperature checked and use face masks along with other safety measures," he said.

Although the temple has been reopened, the PADT has not allowed large scale gatherings and other rituals to be performed in the temple premises in view of the possible spread of COVID-19.

On Tuesday,  President Bidya Devi Bhandari had also performed special rituals at Pashupatinath Temple.
