PATA Summit and Adventure Mart 2023 concludes with emphasis to promote sustainable tourism and digitization

KATHMANDU, June 3: The 'PATA Annual Summit & Adventure Mart 2023' of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), an umbrella organization of travel associations in the Asia Pacific region, held in the tourist city of Pokhara, concluded with an emphasis on sustainable tourism and digitization.

KATHMANDU, June 3: The 'PATA Annual Summit & Adventure Mart 2023' of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), an umbrella organization of travel associations in the Asia Pacific region, held in the tourist city of Pokhara, concluded with an emphasis on sustainable tourism and digitization.


Mart started in Pokhara from May 30 in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), PATA International's main project and Pokhara Municipal Corporation and Pokhara Tourism Council. In the four-day long conference, experts emphasized that sustainable tourism is a necessity for economic development today.


They said that in the changing environment, digitization should also be taken together for the development and promotion of tourism. Similarly, they said that although world tourism is gradually returning to the pre-pandemic rhythm, tourism is suffering due to the effects of the economic recession. According to experts, the world's tourism will have to wait for about a year to return to its pre-pandemic condition.

Similarly, the organizers believe that this conference, which was organized for the first time in Nepal, has succeeded in boosting the tourism sector that has been affected by the corona epidemic and also in promoting Nepal as an adventure tourism destination.


With the conclusion of the program, PATA International President Peter Simon congratulated Nepal for organizing the PATA Summit and Adventure Mart in a grand and systematic manner and said that this conference will help to promote Nepal as a beautiful, safe and adventure tourism destination.


Minister of Tourism of Maldives, Abdullah Masum, along with professor of tourism from different countries, participated in the program. Wolfgen George Alert, Professor Un Yu Liu, Dr. Chiut Mitrachow, Matuk Masu Yusuf, Madhuvani Perera, Andrew Staples, Mart Gibkus, Herbert Yum, Mayur Patel, Sridhar Kipargun, Rocky Phillips, Florian Sengstismez, Roshabella Yong, Peter Simon, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, Nandin Lahe Thapa, Liza Chogyal, Raj Gyawali, Upyul Mazumdar, Binita K. Shakya, Lucky Chhetri and others expressed their opinions about the legal dimension of tourism.


Likewise, Executive Head of Tourism Board Dr Dhananjaya Regmi said that the PATA Mart with fruitful interaction between the participating expert members from different countries will add a new dimension to the tourism which is returning to the rhythm after the pandemic. The program was inaugurated by Surendra Raj Pandey, the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province last Tuesday.
