Patan High Court orders KMC not to demolish Araniko bus park

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order in the name of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to demolish the bus park constructed by Purba Araniko Transport Pvt Limited in Jadibuti of the capital.

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order in the name of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to demolish the bus park constructed by Purba Araniko Transport Pvt Limited in Jadibuti of the capital.


A single bench of Judge Gokarna Dangi issued a short-term interim order in the name of the KMC on Friday to stop the bus park from being demolished. The court has said the structures built by the petitioner by leasing private land from individuals for the operation of the bus park should not be dismantled from the point of view of the balance of facilities.

In the order, the court has also asked the KMC to submit a written response within 15 days. Both the parties have been summoned for a discussion on October 1.


It may be noted that the KMC had issued a notice to dismantle the bus park constructed by the private company, which it said is against the 'one bus park' concept of the metropolis.


The bus park spreads over 14 ropani of land and was constructed with an investment of Rs 100 million.
