KATHMANDU, July 20: Newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has assured that the payments due to construction entrepreneurs from various government agencies are being verified and the payment process will proceed soon.
In a meeting with officials from the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) on Friday, he assured that payments for already incurred liabilities will not be delayed further.

“I have instructed several ministries not to delay payments for completed projects,” he said. “If problems arise, we should not leave them unresolved; we should work together to find a solution. Let both parties work to resolve the issue.”
He urged construction entrepreneurs to maintain the quality of infrastructure projects and to complete work within the specified time and budget.
“The government is ready to listen to and resolve your valid concerns. You should also complete work within the specified time and budget. Please prioritize maintaining the quality of work,” Minister Paudel said.
Construction entrepreneurs have claimed that they are awaiting payments amounting to approximately Rs 60 billion from provincial and local levels.
