KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The Press Council Nepal (PCN) has sought clarification from eight online news portals for publishing gruesome photographs related to the victims of the Trishuli bus accident on August 26.


Press Council Chairman Borna Bahadur Karki today shared that the Council has asked clarification from the online portals as the preliminary investigation showed that the online portals were found violating clause 4 (9) of the Journalist Code of Conduct-2060 (Amended 2064) by publishing the gruesome pictures online.

Accordingly, the Council has directed Onlinekhabar.com, Peacepokhara.Com, Ratopati.Com, Everest Daily.Com, Demokhabar.Com, News 24 Nepal.com and Dishnepal.Com to give a reply within seven days. As per Clause 5 of the code of conduct, they have also been asked to remove such pictures immediately.


Issuing a press release on August 26, the Press Council said that publishing gruesome pictures of the deceased in road accidents in the media was against the journalists Code of Conduct. RSS
