KATHMANDU, July 19: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is unable to dispose garbage from the valley premises.

It is learnt that the garbage disposal site is beyond additional capacity to hold more waste. Also the road section up to the site has been damaged due to the heavy rainfall on July 12.

Garbage is all thrown around road areas as KMC is unable to come to collect it on time.

On a daily basis, around 11 hundred metric tons waste is produced from the Kathmandu valley while 550 metric tons from Kathmandu Metropolitan City alone.

According to Basanta Adhikari, spokesperson at KMC, "Heavy rainfall has damaged the road to Sisdol landfill site. There are dangerous holes on the road section that the trippers are unable to ply."

Adhikari further added that only one third of garbage has been transferred to Sisdole landfill site.
