KATHMANDU, April 1: Nepal Petroleum Entrepreneurs Institutional Coordination Committee has decided to stop the distribution of petroleum products from Friday midnight.
Entrepreneurs have decided to stop the sale and distribution of petroleum products after Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) decided not to increase the commission for petroleum entrepreneurs to reduce its losses as the price of petroleum products has gone up in the international market.

The association has decided to stop distributing petroleum products from tomorrow if the government does not fulfill its demands, Chairman Lilendra Pradhan of the association informed Republica. “The government has not increased our commission as per the increase in the price of petroleum products. We will also stop the sale and distribution of petroleum products from tomorrow," he said.
The government had made arrangements for gas stations selling petrol and diesel to receive commission on a percentage basis. A meeting of the NOC board of directors held on March 3 had decided that the businessmen will not receive additional commissions as per the new price. Entrepreneurs have been receiving their commission on the basis of the same price as of February 19.
According to Chairman Lilendra, the government should have moved forward only after discussing the issue with the stakeholders. The association has been protesting for over two weeks, demanding the government increase their commissions and increase the transportation fares as well.
