The second edition of Photo Kathmandu, a photo festival established last year by photo.circle kicks off from today, October 21, 2016 and will continue till November 3, 2016.  With exhibitions, slideshows, workshops, and various other interactive programs lined up, Photo Kathmandu is an event you will definitely not want to miss.

What makes the festival all the more special this year is that it will feature works with the theme of resilience and revival. At a time when Nepal is recovering from the series of catastrophic earthquakes of last year, Photo Kathmandu aims to show how people are capable of overcoming challenges and adversities, as well as showcase the strength of human spirit. Besides stories of Nepal, it will also present stories from around Asia. This way, it aims, to help Nepalis find the strength to go on despite adversities and nurture new hopes and dreams.

NayanTara Gurung Kakshapti, co-founder/director of photo.circle, is excited about the lineup of artists and programs in this edition of Photo Kathmandu. “The festival features 12 very exciting exhibitions from around Asia, six workshops, more than 12 artist talks and a host of other engaging events. The lineup of artists who are coming to Nepal from all over the world is amazing,” she said.

This year, Photo Kathmandu has also tried to get every person to participate by taking photos with the wheatpasted photographs along the exhibition routes. One simply has to take photos with at least five of the photos and post them on Instagram or Facebook with #photoktm2016 and #ilovephotoktm and then go collect their Photo Kathmandu goodie from the Swotha info point.

Of the many exhibition sites, a few will remain closed during Tihar. If you want more information, there are three info points in Patan staffed by photo.circle volunteers that you can head to throughout the duration of the festival.

Here, we present to you a few selected photos from the exhibition.
