Photojournalist Poornima Shrestha among four Nepali women to conquer Mt Annapurna I

KATHMANDU, April 16: Four Nepali women climbers have made it to the top of Annapurna I, making a record of the first-ever ascent by women climbers.


Photojournalist Poornima Shrestha, Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita and Dabuti Sherpa were able to make it to the top of Annapurna I on Friday.

The expedition managed by Seven Summit Trekking Agency had six climbers this time. However, only four women climbers were able to make it to the top of the mountain.


Photojournalist Shrestha had made it to the top of Mt Sagarmatha in May 2018.
