KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota on Friday visited the landslide-hit site at Lidi, Jugal Rural Municipality-2, in Sindhupalchowk.

Speaker Sapkota who is also the elected representative of the district visited the site to take stock of the incident, according to Shreedhar Neupane, press advisor to Sapkota.


The rain-triggered landslide that occurred at 6 AM on Friday killed at least four people while 34 others have gone missing. Vice-chairperson of Jugal Rural Municipality, Srijana Tamang shared that at least 13 houses were completely damaged and 15 people were injured in the landslide. 


Five of the injured were airlifted to Chautara, the district headquarters, on a Nepal Army helicopter. 


Squads of Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to carry out rescue operations in the landslide-hit area.
