PHOTOS:  With the lockdown lifted, people returning to Valley

KATHMANDU, July 27: The number of people arriving in Kathmandu in recent days has reported a sharp increase.


With the government lifting the lockdown since Wednesday last week, people who had earlier left the Valley for their hometowns are now returning to resume their pre-lockdown routine. A number of people are seen walking on foot as long-distance public transportation is yet to resume.

Major entry points to the capital are seen crowded with people being interrogated and inspected by the security personnel. Meanwhile, health personnel were also seen busy collecting swab samples of the people entering the Valley. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the swab sample collection at major entry points Sanga, Nagdhunga and Pharping kicked off on Sunday


Nepal went for a nationwide lockdown on March 24 in a bid to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Nepal had reported only two active cases of this disease when it enforced the lockdown. This number has risen to 18,752 including 48 deaths as of Monday afternoon.
