Physiology conference kicks off in capital

BANEPA, Nov 10: A five-day Biennial Conference of South Asian Association of Physiologists has begun in Kathmandu on Wednesday with the aim of highlighting the importance of physiology as the basis of all the medical sciences.

BANEPA, Nov 10: A five-day Biennial Conference of South Asian Association of Physiologists has begun in Kathmandu on Wednesday with the aim of highlighting the importance of physiology as the basis of all the medical sciences.


Inaugurating the conference, Prof Dr Ramkanth Majuk Shreshtha, vice-chancellor of Kathmandu University, said that physiologists have a vital role in restoration and conservation of medical sciences in this 21st century.

Prof Dr Taraman Amatya, chairperson of the conference, said that lack of public awareness regarding biological sciences coupled with unhealthy modern lifestyle has resulted in many diseases like hypertension, diabetes, asthma, cancer, depression etc.


Two hundred physiologists from America, UK, Australia, Japan, Italy, Germany, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the SAARC countries, are attending the conference.
