Plan International aid to 9,000 families

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Plan International Nepal has provided emergency shelters and non-food items for 9,000 most vulnerable households affected by 2017 floods in various tarai districts.

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Plan International Nepal has provided emergency shelters and non-food items for 9,000 most vulnerable households affected by 2017 floods in various tarai districts.

According to a press statement issued by Plan on Monday, altogether 2,900 families in Saptari, 1200 families in Mahottari, 2500 families in Rautahat and 2400 families in Sunsari districts benefitted from the relief. The package included various combinations of items such as tarpaulins and ropes, blankets, floor/ bed foams, tarp bags and solar lights.


The statement said that these packages were tailored in consultation with local authorities and communities after takes into consideration the changing needs of the affected communities including the winter. Selection of beneficiaries is done in close coordination with the local stakeholders in the respective districts.
