Responding to a query of media persons after the party’s office bearers’ meeting on Monday, Vice Chairman Mahara also said the issue was not discussed in the party’s office bearers’ meeting since it is a matter for Prime Minister Dahal to decide. "The issue of the Home Minister was not discussed. It is a government’s matter to decide who will be made the home minister and who will not be?,” he said. “This is something the prime minister will decide. This is not something that the party can decide. There will be a separate discussion on that matter in the Standing Committee.”

Deputy PM and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane lost his post on Friday following the apex court’s order that he was not eligible to hold the post of a Member of Parliament (MP). PM Dahal has yet to make a decision on who will be appointed to the post of home minister, although the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Lamichhane has said that it will not give up its claim to the ministry.
