KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday said that Nepal Army (NA) has made a laudable contribution for the efforts of establishing peace globally.

“NA has made a high contribution for the global peace. The honesty, dutifulness, courage and heroism of NA personnel are world renowned. I would like to extent a special thanks to you for that,” said PM Dahal while inspecting NA Headquarters.

The Prime Minister added that a person involved in war understands the significance of peace than others.

“I respect the positive role of NA in the country’s peace process,” he said.

On a separate note, PM Dahal said that the government was committed to modernize the national army by equipping them with resources.

“The government is aware to maintain the high morale of NA. It is committed and aware that NA should not be dragged into war-era cases. There is a need of a common opinion between NA and the government over the peace process,” he said.

Lauding the NA’s roles in rescue, relief and reconstruction after the earthquake and its role in the projects of national pride, PM said, “NA’s roles in disaster management, construction of national pride projects, surveillance of national parks and environment conservation are praiseworthy.”

Speaking at the function, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri informed the Prime Minister on NA’s peacekeeping role, national security and national pride projects among others.
