KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has extended best wishes to the team of Nepali players while seeing off at his office, Baluwatar, on Thursday.
The players are leaving for the 19th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.
On the occasion, PM Dahal admitted that the distribution of prizes declared earlier for the players was delayed due to technical reasons. But, the Cabinet meeting being held on Friday would allocate the amount for the announced prize.
19th Asian Games: Nepal remains without medal so far
The PM also informed that the government had made adequate arrangements for the players during the games in China. "I believe you will earn further esteem to the country and it will be a glorious moment. I'll be attending the inauguration of the Games," he said to the team, adding that the Asian Games would be enjoyable to him as well.
PM Dahal is slated to reach China before the inauguration of the Asian Games after his visit to the USA.
Similarly, Minister for Youths and Sports, Dig Bahadur Limbu, also extended best wishes to the players.
Nepal will be participating in 29 games with its 253 players. Among them, there are 127 women players.
Basketball, archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoeing, cricket, cycling, e-sport, football, gulf, handball, judo, karate, rugby, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, tennis, wrestling, triathlon, and weight lifting are the games in which Nepal is participating.
