Some members of parliament expressed dissatisfaction about his decision to visit China directly from the USA and suggested he return to Nepal before traveling to China.

In response, PM Dahal stated, “After addressing the high-level session of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, a program has been set to go to Hangzhou for an official visit to neighboring country China on September 22. Due to the very short time between my speech at the United Nations and the schedule of my visit to China, I had to go directly from New York to visit our neighboring friendly country, China.”

This marks PM Dahal's third visit to China during his tenure as Prime Minister, and he is visiting at the invitation of the Chinese Prime Minister.
