In his briefing to parliament about Modi’s visit on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli, without naming the chief minister, said some of the remarks made at the civic reception  were ‘weak’ and ‘inappropriate’ in view of national dignity and diplomatic norms. He also informed that this was not in line with the policy of the government.

In his speech in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister Raut had said that the struggle against ‘the discriminatory constitution’ was still underway, apparently to solicit Indian support. He had also said that the fight is also continuing for the provincial rights as stipulated in the new constitution.
