KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Prime Minister KP Oli, who is currently in Azerbaijan to participate in the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), has held meetings with various heads of state and government including those from Venezuela and North Korea.
According to Prime Minister Oli’s Foreign Relations Advisor Rajan Bhattarai, Prime Minister Oli held meetings with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and First Vice Chairman of North Korea’s State Affairs Commission Choe Ryong Hae on the sidelines of the NAM summit “on their request”. President Maduro is also the outgoing chair of NAM.

Both the leaders reached Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, to participate in the NAM Summit, representing their countries. In both meetings, matters pertaining to bilateral relations were discussed, according to Bhattarai.
Similarly, Prime Minister Oli also held bilateral meeting with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Pakistan President Arif Alvi on the sidelines of the NAM Summit. Prime Minister Oli held discussions on matters of mutual interests of both the countries.
Prime Minister Oli also met the Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu and Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdullah Sahid on the sidelines of the 18th NAM Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to arrive home on Sunday.
“Maldives and Nepal have similar challenges in sustainable development, climate change and food security. We will work more closely together at international forums to overcome these challenges,” tweeted Foreign Minister Shahid after his meeting with Oli.
