PM Oli calls to end Mt Everest pollution

KATHMANDU, April 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the highest peak of the world, Mt Everest, should not be made polluted under any reason. 


Addressing the silver jubilee function of Pasang Lhamu Mountaineering Foundation, Prime Minister Oli expressed concern over increasing impact of climate change on the mountain peaks of Nepal including Mt Everest.

He said, "Negative impact seen in Himalayas of Nepal due to carbon emission by big countries of the world is the matter of concern." 


The Prime Minister underscored the need of paying attention in cleanliness of ocean to keep Mt Everest clean. He further said that Mt Everest should not be made polluted and ugly by throwing wrappers of food stuffs and plastic products. 


PM Oli said that Pasang Lhamu Sherpa was source of inspiration and courage to Nepali women. Saying there are numerous mountains in Nepal, he pointed out the need of paying attention for their protection. 


The Prime Minister said, "We should protect our mountains. They have significant contribution in Nepal's tourism."  RSS
