PM Oli's message on World Environment Day

KATHMANDU, June 5: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that it is the responsibility of the present generation to ensure the fundamental right of people to live in a clean and healthy environment.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that it is the responsibility of the present generation to ensure the fundamental right of people to live in a clean and healthy environment. 



The Prime Minister stated this in a message given today on the occasion of the World Environment Day 2016 today. 



He noted that this Day should be taken as the day to pledge for the protection and preservation of the valuable and unique animals, clean, healthy and fascinating environment and the forest that is the synonym with life by putting in all our efforts for the future generations.

The Prime Minister also referred to the constitutional provision guaranteeing the fundamental right of the citizens to live in a clean and healthy environment. 



"In an underdeveloped country like Nepal it is very challenging to pursue environment conservation and development. Accordingly, sometimes problems are also seen while taking ahead the environmental conservation, sustainable management and development side by side," he said. 



The government has adopted the policy of utilising and promoting environment-friendly technology for a balanced, sustainable and rapid socio-economic development through the judicious use of the resources to meet the developmental goals. 



Describing the environment protection as a multi-dimensional and cross-cutting issue, PM Oli urged all the bodies concerned to incorporate environmental concerns in their respective plans and programmes for its proper management and conservation. He stressed on the wise use of natural resources taking into consideration the rights of the future generation to natural resources. RSS
