KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's effort to bring the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and Federal Alliance on board the constitution amendment bill has yielded no result after the two agitating forces declining to own the bill.
A meeting of the Federal Alliance held at the office of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) party office on Thursday decided to reject the amendment bill. “As the [proposed] amendment fails to address the grievances of the Madhesi, Tharu and other indigenous and ethnic communities the alliance has decided to reject the bill,” reads the statement issued by FSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav after the meeting.
Earlier, UDMF leaders had also turned down Dahal's request to own and support the amendment bill registered by the government in parliament. During the meeting with UDMF leaders at Baluwatar, Prime Minister Dahal had requested the agitating parties to vote in favor of the bill, as it was registered aiming to address the demands of the Madhes-based political parties.

“In this complex political equation addressing all demands of the UDMF is almost impossible. Lets support whatever the government has brought up and go for local poll,” a statement issued by PM's secretariat quoted Dahal as saying in the meeting.
According to leaders, agitating Madhes-based leaders had demanded revision of the amendment bill. “Turning down the request to join the local election, UDMF leaders warned the PM of obstructing local polls if the amendment proposal is not revised,” said Shadbhawana Party General Secretary Manish Suman.
