Pokhara locals express solidarity with Dr KC

POKHARA, July 21: A rally has been organized in Pokhara-Lekhanath Metropolitan City to pile pressure on the government to address demands of Dr Govinda KC. Civil society, businessmen, officials representing medical sector, students, general people took part in the pressure rally.

POKHARA, July 21: A rally has been organized in Pokhara-Lekhanath Metropolitan City to pile pressure on the government to address demands of Dr Govinda KC. Civil society, businessmen, officials representing medical sector, students, general people took part in the pressure rally.


Expressing solidarity with Dr KC, the participants gathered at Prithvi Chowk rallied round Srijana Chowk and eventually came back to the starting point.

Meanwhile, the demonstrators accused the KP Oli-led government of foiling KC’s demands after getting entangled with mafias.


Speaking at the corner meeting that followed the rally, civil society leader Sunil Pandey said they would continue demonstration until KC’s demands are fulfilled.


“This demand is not for KC’s personal benefits, but for the entire benefits of the medical education sector but the government has turned a deaf ear to his demands,” said Pandey.


Similarly, Dr Basanta Gautam criticized the government saying that it is discouraging those willing to contribute to the medical education sector rather than brining reforms in the medical sector.


Senior Orthopedic Surgeion Dr Govinda KC has been on fast-unto-death since the last 22 days demanding reforms in the medical education sector.
