Pokhara metropolis to distribute disability ID cards

POKHARA, Jan 20: Pokhara Metropolitan City has started the process for distributing identity cards to the people with disability.


The metropolis took the responsibility for the distribution of the ID cards after the Women and Children Office (WCO) came under the local government. People with a disability were deprived of their ID cards since long due to the confusion over which body was responsible for the distribution of such cards.

In order to obtain the ID card, people with disability should contact the Social Development Department of the metropolis with a recommendation from the ward office and the respective health organization, along with birth certificate and a photocopy of their citizenship.


The differently abled people will be handed the ID cards on the last Monday of each month. The government has categorized people with disability in four different groups. People belonging to different categories will hold a different colored card.
