POKHARA, July 23: Effective today, the Pokhara Metropolitan City has taken a decisive step by prohibiting roadside parking within the vicinity of Pokhara Bus Park area.
The ban encompasses the stretch from Prithvi Chowk to Seti Bridge (China Bridge), as confirmed by Amrit Timilsina, the ward chairman of Pokhara Metropolitan City-16. He also holds the position of vice-chairman of the Transport Management Committee of the metropolis.

The decision to remove roadside parking at Prithvi Chowk was reached during a meeting of the district security committee on Friday. Timilsina acknowledged the swift implementation of the decision, stating that the metropolis is efficiently managing the transition.
Addressing the issue, Timilsina highlighted the concern arising from parking small and large vehicles on the roadside, especially since the bus park is connected to the highway. To alleviate this problem, only long-distance buses in queues will be permitted to park on the side of the road.
Furthermore, a notice has been issued, instructing all other vehicles not to park on the street starting from Sunday.
It's worth noting that the Pokhara Metropolitan City had previously issued a notice on February 2, announcing the complete ban of roadside parking in Pokhara's New Road area. However, the decision was reversed within the next two days.
